K Prays

This is a video of the nightly dinner ritual at our house.  When we all eat dinner together, we say prayer before we eat.  Every night, K insists that she needs her own prayer with either myself or Mr. Smoochiefrog.  It's always the same thing, and utterly hysterical.  See for yourself...

Don't ask me why spiders and their getting squished has to be mentioned.  Only in the mind of a three year old.  :)

Don't Ask Me What She's Saying,

because I really couldn't tell you. I came home on Sunday from the store and K didn't know I was home. She came downstairs and started doing this and I just laughed. I let her know I was home only after I videoed her to show you people that the habit of lining things up isn't the only oddity the girl possesses. :) Oh the odd sound you hear at the beginning, that would be Clyde yawning. Didn't even phase her. She just continued to dance in circles with her My Little Pony she confiscated from M. Enjoy!

I Can See The Therapy Bills Now Pt. 3

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

This is my first post for Photostory Friday and I thought it would fit in right nice.

Those of you who are regular readers of my blog should be familiar with K's OCD penchant for lining things up.  (If you're new, visit part 1 and part 2 for background.)

Since I haven't posted any new pictures of her antics, you probably think she's outgrown it.

WRONG!!!!

Here's what she did recently to a plate of food:

Ks_plate_300_x_225_2

Oh yes, that is her cut up hot dog all lined up for the eating.

Here's what I was greeted with when I came home one night:

100_2347_300_x_225_2

Weren't they so sweet to wait up on the couch for me?  *Snort*

And here's her most recent accomplishment.  She was so proud of herself too:

I have no idea what is up with her hand in the last picture, nor where her left leg is in either picture.  I swear she has a left leg people.

Stay tuned for more of K's OCD antics coming soon!

Happy 3rd Birthday K Girl!

Att00432

Today is the 3rd anniversary of the day you came into this world.  While your first two years were filled with lots of firsts, I think this past year has been where you have done the most growth both physically and mentally.

Since your 2nd birthday we've moved from the house you first came home to into a new house, you started sleeping in a big girl bed instead of a crib, you got your first set of wheels, you stopped taking naps, you transferred from diapers to p@nties and you started dance classes.

You've also developed such a passion for learning I can't even fathom it.  You surprise me daily with your ability to name colors, recognize letters, and tell me letter sounds for many of the letters you recognize.  We're still working on numbers, but I figure that's not far behind.

Your love for your siblings and parents is growing all the time.  You're starting to develop compassion and show remorse for wrongdoings.  At the drop of a hat you'll come and give great big hugs and then turn around and ask for hugs again because your batteries have run out.

You're turning into such a big girl K.  At times I want to make you stop growing so I can have my baby back, and then I turn around and watch you experience something new-like the ferris wheel Friday night-and I know there's so many other things I can't wait for you to experience for the first time.

It's been a great year baby, and I know this next one will be just as great.

Happy Birthday and may God continue to bless you K!

Love,

Mommy

Well, That Was Fun...NOT

I just spent the last hour filling out a police report.

Seems when your 2 yr. old goes outside by themselves to find you (why she didn't look upstairs-where I was in the bathroom-is beyond me) and is found wandering the street alone, the police frown on it.

Mental note...have B go out a different door in the morning so the front door stays locked.

Oh Lord

"I have to go potty, mom."

"O.K.  Get your step stool and go ahead."

Potty sounds....

K comes out unclothed from the waist down.  "I need you to clean me up mom."

My lovely 4th born just went all over the floor and so calmly gave me the above direction.

It's not even 8:30 and this is how my day starts?

I don't think I can take this right now.

And we're not even going to go into how aggravated I get that my 2 yr. old is calling me mom instead of mommy.

Is it really too early to start drinking?  It's gotta be 5 o'clock somewhere right?

And Then I Crawled Under A Rock and Buried My Head

Last week I'm at the new ghetto Staples (labeled as such due to it being a new building yet still in the ghetto where we used to live) buying some school supplies (9¢ filler paper-um, hello!) and I've just got K with me (M was at dance camp, B at home).  We're cruising through the store quickly b/c at this point I've got tons more errands to run.

I scurry into the check-out line with my paper, getting in front of a group of mature adults squawking like wet hens at each other.  Something about their mother's brother's auntie's son being in 8th grade now...whatever, I totally didn't care.

I'm digging 50¢ out of my change purse when all of a sudden I hear K beside me yell:

"Hey, you!  Stop talking!"

Oh, no she didn't!

O.M.G.  Oh, yes she did!

I'm all like "K, that's not nice!" when the lady behind me says:

"I'm sorry, was I offending you?  Am I talking too loud?"  She's laughing as she says this BTW.

So what does K do?  She answers her:

"Um, yes!"

*Insert title of post here*

This is what I have to deal with when she's not doing behaving like this.

Warms My Heart Wednesday

Yesterday M, K and I went to the movies.  The free summer movies are almost over, so we're hitting as many as I can handle between now and when school starts (August 25th in case you were wondering).

After Charlotte's Web (the live action one, which was really good except for Charlotte was quite creepy looking) was over and the crowd had thinned out a bit, we started to head out.

Our theater has these cute little plastic seats for the children to sit on to be able to see the screen.  It's M's job to carry these seats in and out of the theater.   Most people just leave the seats in the chairs and make the theater staff pick them up, but I'm a little strange.  I believe that if we brought them into the theater, we will take them and put them back where we found them when we're done.  You always hear that children learn by example and even after 4 of my own I still get surprised when they do something I've done, but never "taught" them to do.

M is carrying the 2 seats and we get to the bottom of the steps where K sees a booster seat still sitting in a chair.  She walks over and picks it up.  I call to M, who kept walking-not seeing this, so she doesn't get too far ahead of us and she comes back.  She sees that K has a booster in her hand.  She walks over to K, sets her 2 boosters down, takes the one K has and puts in on the stack, and turns around and carries 3 boosters out of the theater.

I'm standing over to the side while this is happening in awe.  At 2, my child has become conscious of being respectful of others property!  Wow what a heart-warming mom moment!  Couple that with what M did and I think I teared up a little right there in the theater.

Sometimes, it's just the little things we see that let us know they're going to be alright.

Nope, No Cavity Goons*

I love my dentist.

It's not that kind of love.

It's an "I have no fear of the dentist because he's so great" kind of love.

See, I liked my dentist in IL.  He was pretty good and he had a frog theme going at his office, which of course scored him major points right from the get go.  I dreaded trying to find a new dentist when we moved to MD.

Not knowing where to start once we moved, I did the only thing I could think of to find a dentist.  I called 1-800-DENTIST.

No really, I did.

And ya know what?  I haven't regretted it once.

They highly recommended him, he took my insurance, he was accepting new patients, and bonus, he was also a pediatric dentist!  Woot!

I called, got directions and made appointments for myself, D & B.

We went to the appointments and it was love at first cleaning, for all of us.

This was back in 2002.

In 2004, Dr. O saw M when she was 3 for her first cleaning.

She passed with flying colors.

Monday he saw K for her first cleaning:

She too passed with flying colors.

I love the fact that my children all enjoy going to the dentist.  They don't mind it one single bit.  They don't look at the date on the calendar with dread or fear.  They're actually totally calm and comfortable.  Dare I say it, they even look forward to it!

I love the fact that he allows a crazy person like me to take pictures of their child's first dental visit.

I love the fact that they refer to an awesome orthodontist, in the same building complex no less, who straightened D's teeth perfectly.

I love the fact that they cater to high gag reflex people like me and use the child sized x-ray films for my adult x-rays.  Makes it so much easier, trust me.

I love the fact that I've had 2 fillings drilled out and refilled and I never felt a thing.

I love the fact that he plays such relaxing music while working on my teeth (freaking Norah Jones everytime) that I fall asleep.

I love the fact that he doesn't laugh at me for falling asleep while he's working on my teeth.  :)

I love the fact that he truly understands what I'm saying when I talk with a mouth full of mirrors and pick like things.  (Is that a course in Dental college?  It must be.)

Just a few reasons why I love my dentist.

You're the best Dr. O!

Here's hoping you never retire.  :)

*One bonus entry into each of the blogoversary drawings next week for the first person to correctly tell me where that is from.
